Tengiz Nasaridze participates in GFFA 2024 in Berlin

The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture of the Republic of Georgia Tengiz Nasaridze attended the recently held Global Forum and Agriculture (GFFA 2024). This important international forum was held in Berlin. He also attended the ministerial meeting held on the sidelines of the GFFA Forum 2024.

This is the world’s largest forum on food and agriculture. It was attended by ministers of agriculture from more than sixty countries across the globe and high-level representatives of international organisations from different fields. Participants discussed the prospects of agricultural development.

The attendee of the occassion also discussed the joint efforts to overcome today’s challenges, improve productivity, transform food systems, help eradicate world hunger and develop international trade. The need to encourage women’s involvement in agriculture was also discussed at the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Tengiz Nasaridze added“The forum discussed the issues that concern the global community in terms of food security and agricultural development, and Georgia is actively involved in these discussions”.

He also added that an important communication was received covering all the major aspects of food security challenges. Our agricultural production is actively growing, and our export indicators both worldwide and EU on the way to approach it is very important to have joint engagement with our partners.

Georgian Minister also participated in thematic conferences that discussed the issues of European integration of Eastern European countries the progress achieved and the current challenges.

Speaking at the conference the Minister emphasised the steps taken by Georgia towards integration into the European Union and the progress made in agriculture, rural development, environmental protection and overcoming challenges caused by climate change. 

Tengiz Nasaridze also emphasised the importance of EU-supported projects and noted that these programs make an important contribution to rural and agricultural development.

Important discussions were held with the participation of the Minister of Food and Agriculture of the Federal Republic of Germany, Jem Ozdemir, and the European Commissioner for Agriculture, Janush Woicekowski. The discussions discussed challenges and mechanisms that are important to be co-used by candidate countries.

At the same time, Tengiz Nasaridze took part in the conference held with the participation of the leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Big Seven Countries, which discussed the current issues related to Georgia, Moldova Republic and Ukraine’s approach to the EU. 

The meeting further discussed the crisis created by the war in Ukraine and its impact on agriculture, trade and supply chain in the countries of the region.The deputy minister highlighted food security challenges and noted the joint actions by countries to address the challenges as crucial.
