Tbilisi: The Foreign Ministry of Georgia, on Monday, confirmed the death of a Georgian fighter in Ukraine. With his death, the toll of Georgia’s loss in Ukraine reached 20. The departed fighter has not been identified yet.
As per the sources, the deceased Georgian fighter had been residing in Ukraine from the last eight years and has been consistently fighting on the front line since the beginning of Russian invasion of Ukraine in February.Â
The recent missile attacks by Russia in Kyiv and the central part of Ukraine had claimed his life and at least eight more citizens.Â
Earlier today, a series of explosions were reported in Ukraine’s capital city, Kyiv, which had been relatively calm for the past few months. The attacks are directly linked to an explosion in fuel tanks on the Crimean bridge that had partially damaged the bridge.
The Crimean bridge holds a particular strategic significance for Moscow as it forms the connectivity between the Crimean Peninsula with Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin called the explosion an act of terrorism from the Ukrainian special services. Consequently, the Ukrainian regions- Lviv, Ternopil, Zhytomyr and Dnipro faced deadly missile attacks on Monday.
Russia had already targeted the civilians on Saturday as it hit the residential buildings late at night in Zaporizhzhia, killing at least 17 citizens.
