The official visit of Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Georgia came to an end on Monday. Nikol Pashinyand during his visit met with his Georgian counterpart Irakli Kobakhidze and discussed many issues of bilateral importance.
Prime Minister of Armenia’s visit is crucial as Georgia is going to hold parliamentary elections in October this year. This will convey that under the Georgian Dream regime Georgia has strong relations with foreign countries especially those in the Caucasus region. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze shared glimpses of the event on his official Facebook page.
He stated in the post that “I met the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. During this important meeting, we discussed the existing relations between the two countries and the future prospects of cooperation.”
It also stated “ The friendly and good-neighbourly relations between Georgia and Armenia were emphasized in this meeting. It was noted that the signing of the agreement on strategic partnership between the countries played a turning point in terms of deepening the relations between Georgia and Armenia.”
PM Kobahidze also thanked the Prime Minister of Armenia for supporting the UN resolution on the return of internally displaced persons and refugees in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region.
The Facebook post further revealed that during the bilateral meeting of both Prime Ministers they also discussed the dynamics in the region. It was noted that Georgia firmly supports peaceful coexistence in the South Caucasus. In this regard the importance of joint efforts in dealing with the challenges in the region was highlighted.
Notbaly Georgia is ready to play a positive role in the future to ensure peace and stability in the region. The both leaders also spoke on cooperation issues between Georgia and Armenia in various fields.
The bilateral conversation touched on the economic relations between the countries. The importance of fully utilizing the existing potential in this direction was emphasized by both sides as well.
The high dynamics of relations between Georgia and Armenia and the intensity of bilateral high-level visits were emphasized to create a better and more stringent relationship between both countries. At the conclusion of the visit the Georgian PM accompanied his counterpart from Armenia to Tbilisi International Airport.
