Tbilisi: Ararat Mirzoyan, the foreign minister of Georgia visited Georgia on July 3 on an official visit. He also met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and many other government representatives to discuss multilateral issues.
In addition to the PM he met Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and his Georgian counterpart, Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and held a press conference. During the meeting with the Prime Minister both sides focused on the cooperation directions specifically mentioned in the joint declaration on the bilateral strategic partnership.
Georgian PM Kobakhidze reiterated that we are ready to contribute to a constructive regional dialogue to promote a safe and stable environment among both countries and for sustainable regional growth as well. They also discussed the issues of tourism, culture, and education, among other issues.
On the other hand while meeting with the Georgian Parliament speaker both stressed the strengthening relation between legislative bodies of both countries which will ultimately benefit promoting bilateral cooperation between both countries as well.
The speaker specifically added, “We have discussed many important regional issues with special focus on the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Ararat Mirzoyan lauds Georgia’s readiness to promote regional peace.
Similarly while meeting the Georgian foreign minister he expressed his gratitude for Armenia’s support for the UN General Assembly resolution on the right of Georgian IDPs and refugees to return to their homes.
It is worth mentioning that as Minister Darchiashvili stated Georgia and Armenia firmly support and respect each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
FM Darchiashvili also stated, “ Today, both sides have discussed the issues, challenges, and opportunities existing in the region. We also have discussed the various measures for the upliftment of Georgia which firmly supports stability and peaceful coexistence in the South Caucasus. Moreover we are ready to cooperate with the other countries to contribute to the promotion of constructive dialogue and the provision of stability and peace in the region because the stable region is need of the hour for development as well.”
