Tbilisi: Various civil society organizations and representatives of non-governmental organizations of Georgia has issued a joint statement. The organisations have condemned repressive measure being used by state authorities against peoples who were part of peaceful demonstration.
The statement reads as, “This is very shocking to see the member of law enforcement have resorted to violent measures against the peaceful participants of demonstrations. We would like to reject these measures being adopted by law enforcers who are supposed to work as protector of law.”
It is worth to note that protest erupted in Georgia since result of October 28, 2024, were declared. The statement of Georgia Dream Prime Minister after result of October parliament election caused large scale protest across Georgia. Later, many public officials of Georgia also joined the protests.
After the controversial decision taken by office bearers of ruling party Georgian Dream public official distanced themselves from this controversial order of Government. The organization which signed this latest statement also reiterated their commitment for integration into European Union. According to them these violent measures against peaceful protestors cannot acceptable any democratic country.
As many public servants joined this protest government of Georgia has bring many amendments to Georgia legislature. These amendment to Georgian law almost cleared way for the use of violent measure to suppress the peaceful protests. Mamy public officer were also dismissed from service after their participation on peaceful anti-government protests.
All these Georgian organisations has also appealed to international community to put pressure on Georgian regime to respect fundamental human rights.
