Georgia: The construction of the Tbilisi-Sagarejo road, part of the Kakheti highway, is actively continuing. The first section of the road, the Vaziani bypass, was commissioned last year, and motor transport is already using the 4 km section of the new road.
The construction of the Tbilisi-Sagarejo road is strategically divided into 3 sections. This comprehensive approach ensures a systematic and efficient development process. The project involves the construction of a 4-lane cement-concrete highway, with active work currently underway on 2 sections, the Vineyard and the Vineyard bypass, totaling 31 km. These sections are scheduled to be completed this year.
It is noteworthy that the 35 km Tbilisi-Sagarejo road is part of the main highway connecting the Tbilisi Kakheti and also the transit corridor connecting the northwest region of Azerbaijan with the rest of the country. The construction of the 35 km Tbilisi-Sagarejo road is financed from the state budget, and its total cost is more than 527 million GEL.
The Tbilisi-Sagarejo section is part of the main highway connecting Tbilisi to Kakheti, and the transit corridor links Azerbaijan to the northwestern region.
The new road will pass by narrowly populated villages and cities, such as Vaziani, Sartichala, Ninotsminda, and Sagarejo. Tbilisi-Sagarejo road starts east of Lochini junction and ends east of Tokhliauri junction. The new road completely relaxes traffic in populated areas, ensuring safer commuting and reducing travel time.
The Tbilisi-Sagarejo road construction project includes constructing a 4-lane cement-concrete external lighting system, which is 110 km. Following international road safety standards will allow us to travel in an hour.
Heavy machinery has been deployed to complete the construction on the project site as soon as possible. For Kakheti, a region with the fastest-growing tourist interest, developing modern-standard road infrastructure is essential.
