Daily COVID-19 Updates: Georgia reports 1,970 new cases, 29 deaths

In Georgia, the Health Ministry said that the nation has reported 1,970 new cases of COVID-19, with 7,294 recoveries and 29 fatalities in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past two weeks stands at 17.68 per cent.

Overall, there are currently 37,211 active cases of Coronavirus throughout the country. 

Moreover, as per the figures given by the health authorities of Georgia, a total of 12,645 tests were conducted throughout the country within the last 24 hours, out of which 10,240 were rapid antigen tests, and the remaining 2,405 were PCR tests.

Since February 26, 2020, the country has recorded a total of 1,631,900 cases of Coronavirus. Out of 1,631,900 cases of COVID-19, a total of 1,578,178 patients have recovered, while 16,485 people have succumbed to it.

The new 1,970 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several parts of the country. 

  • Tbilisi – 853 cases
  • Adjara – 69 cases
  • Imereti – 315 cases
  • Kvemo Kartli – 83 cases
  • Shida Kartli – 96 cases
  • Guria – 117 cases
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 166 cases
  • Kakheti – 169 cases
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 45 cases
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti – 30 cases
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 27 cases

The new Omicron variant of Coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed Coronavirus cases.

Furthermore, as of today, there are currently 1,889 patients who are undergoing treatment in hospitals, while 35,322 people are undergoing treatment at home and by consulting their family doctors. There are 530 people who are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

A total of1,352,561 people have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,250,026 individuals have been fully vaccinated, amounting to 43.5 per cent of the country’s adult population.

In total, 226,527 individuals have received booster shots of the vaccine. 

As of today, around 33.6% of the total population of Georgia has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which accounts for 12.5L of people. As of now, approximately 29.1% doses of vaccines have been administered in the country.
