Nine service traders fined for violating consumer rights in Batumi

After investigating 11 food service providers in Batumi for possible violations of the Georgian Law on "Consumer Rights Protection", the National Competition Agency of Georgia has concluded its case. The Agency found that nine traders had breached the Law and imposed sanctions on them.

After investigating 11 food service providers in Batumi for possible violations of the Georgian Law on “Consumer Rights Protection“, the National Competition Agency of Georgia has concluded its case. The Agency found that nine traders had breached the Law and imposed sanctions on them.
From the materials obtained and processed by the Agency, it was found that the cognitive (food) menu was prepared and posted only in non-state language of “Qizil 2023” LLC, “Grill Food” LLC, “Harvidenti” LLC, “Daria” LLC, “Andrey Kharbedia, “Vladislav Kiriakov, “Alexander Vasiliev, “Invest in Georgia” LLC and “Maria Kalustiani” was prepared and posted in non-official language.
Therefore, after evaluating the circumstances of the case, presenting evidence and studying, the Agency has found that these traders have violated the Georgian Law on “Consumer Rights Protection”.
In investigating the matter, to determine relevant circumstances for providing the information requested by the Agency within the stipulated time limit, LLC “Gril Food” and LLC “Harvident” were fined 500 GEL each. The fine mentioned by “Gril Food” LLC has been paid as of today.
The Georgian National Competition Agency recently completed a case study against 11 traders into possible violations of the Georgian Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights in the food service sector in Batumi.
Based on the materials that the Agency received and processed, it was concluded that the reference (food) menu was created and posted solely in a non-state language by the companies “Kizil 2023” LLC, “Grill Food” LLC, “Harvident” LLC, “Daria” LLC, Ind. Entrepreneur Andrei Kharbedia, Ind. Entrepreneur Vladislav Kiriakov, Ind. Entrepreneur Alexander Vasilev, “Invest in Georgia” LLC, and Ind. Entrepreneur Maria Kalustiani.
Consequently, the consumers entering the food establishments needed the opportunity to receive information clearly and comprehensibly in the state language.
The Agency established a violation of the Georgia Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights by the mentioned traders after evaluating and studying the case’s circumstances and the evidence presented.
According to the decisions of the Agency, the traders were ordered to restore the violated rights of consumers within one month and to adjust the trade policy to the relevant requirements of the Law.
However, the Agency did not confirm any violation on the part of “Dano” LLC and “Maxi Sandwich Chicken” LLC.
In the process of studying the issue, to determine and clarify the relevant circumstances, for not providing the information requested by the Agency within the established period, “Gril Food” LLC and “Harvident” LLC were fined 500 GEL each. As of today, “Grill Food” LLC has paid the mentioned fine.
“Gril Food” LLC and “Harvident” LLC were fined 500 GEL each during the investigation to determine and clarify the relevant circumstances for not providing the information requested by the Agency within the stipulated timeframe. The mentioned fine has been paid by “Grill Food”.
