Tbilisi city court sentence accuses for illegal income

Tbilisi: The city court of the national capital Tbilisi has sentenced one natural and three legal entities for the crime of illegal income. Evidence against them was produced by the official of the prosecution office of Georgia.

It is specifically mentioned that based on the evidence provided by the prosecutor’s office especially on the fact of legalisation of large amounts of illegal income the court found one natural and three legal entities guilty. They have robbed a large number of people by adducing them on false promises.

The office collected a number of pieces of evidence in this regard. A reputable legal entity communicated with the director of a company operating in Hong Kong and on the condition of buying shares of famous companies fraudulently deposited $ 13 million into foreign bank accounts.

The money which has been seized by the invesitgation agency has been collected by the members of the criminal group and transferred to different countries around the world to evade the prosecution in Georgia. Among this large amount of money about 2 million US dollars were transferred to the bank accounts of three enterprises owned and owned by the convicts and related individuals.

It is estimated that the members of the criminal group laundered about 2 million US dollars through these actions and caused many to suffer huge losses.

Tbilisi City Court fully examined the evidence presented by the Prosecutor’s Office during the fair and free trial and the individual accused of legalising illegal income was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment. 

At the same time, the legal entities were denied the right to do business and fined 100,000 GEL each as a measure of punishment.

The sentence convicts will provide money in the amount of up to 2,000,000 GEL deposited from their bank accounts for the benefit of the state. At the same time the residential house in Tbilisi worth more than a million GEL purchased with criminal incom will also be confiscated as well.
