Caucasus Unversity of Georgia on monday hosted a conference on cyber security. A large number of students, young scientists and IT (Information technology) experts attended the conference. There was a competition for the students in which a significant number of students participated.
The conference was to apprise the students of the latest trends in the field of cyber technology. This dedicated and specific cybersecurity conference for students and young scientists was organized by the Caucasus Center for Cyber Security and Scientific Cyber Security Association and was held at the campus of the University of Caucasus.
On this occasion a total of 40 reports were submitted and out of 40 reports registered the top 20 reports on cybersecurity challenges and security concerns were selected.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the conference was attended by representatives of both the state and the private sector across Georgia. At the final conclusion of the conference, one of the participants made a presentation on the author’s book
The participants of this important conference were evaluated by a jury of experts, which included the following :
Lado Svanadze – Doctor of Public Administration, BTU affiliated professor, member of IDI board;
Igor Dolotovski – Founder and CEO of INTEGRA
Anzor Mekhrishvili – Head of BDO Company
After the competition Jury members have selected two winners in the nomination of best scientific work who are :
Zura Kevanishvili – “Detecting the violation of fair play in chess using neural networks”;
Giorgi Tomadze (Team members: Mikheil Kurashvili, Ilia Lomidze) – “Dark side of radio technology”
The winners of this cometition were given a gift from the Caucasus University fund and a special prize given by the company INTEGRA. Participants of the conference were given certificates of appreciation and participation at the end of the conference as well.
In this technology-driven era cyber security has become a major challenge. The incident of Cyber attacks is growing with each passing day. Incidents are not just growing in Georgia alone; rather, cyber-attacks have gone to new heights in the region as well as in the whole world.
The Key speaker of the conference also stated that this is the time when united, coordinated efforts are required to boost cyber security across physical borders. They also underscored the need for strict legal provisions to prevent cybercrime.
The key speaker speaking further on the topic of cyber security also urged all the government to take immediate steps to stop the misuse of cyber security. As the threat of misuse of cyber security is looming large, many countries have come up with strict rules and regulations so that anti-social elements cannot use cyber technology for ill motives.
On the other hand, young scientist thanks the University administration for supporting scientific research. They also expressed their gratitude towards the Reactor of the University for taking a personal interest and launching a special effort so that students can excel in the field of scientific research.
