Georgia: The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia honors the bright memory of Spartak Bagashvili and their immense effort in the development of Georgian culture. 110 years have passed since the birth of Spartak Bagashvili.
Spartak Bagashvili has been working in the “Georgian Film” film studio since 1935, and in 1944, he graduated from the School of Actors near the “Tbilisi Film Studio.”
Actor in cinema for the first time, filmmaker Mikheil Chiaureli invited Arsena Odzelashvili to play the role of “Arsena” (1937), where he portrayed the heroic face of the people’s hero. This role brought him universal popularity.
Heroic-romantic faces followed his successful debut in the same director’s films: “The Great Dawn” (1938, Giorgi Ghudushauri—Stalin Prize, 1941) and “Giorgi Saakadze” (1942-1943, Luarsab II). His imaginative looks, sharp perceptions, stunning, memorable voice, and tremendous acting created an impressive gallery of film heroes.
Spartak Bagashvili participated in the same period k. In Pipinashvili’s films “Kajana” (Folk teacher Vano, 1941) and “Akaki’s Cradle” (For the first time in the history of Georgian cinema, he played three roles at the same time: Vazha-Pshavela, Metsisqvile Estate and Gamdeli, 1947).
Later, after a long pause, they appeared again on the screen in the leading role (Shepherd Martia) in the movie White Caravan (T. Meliava, E. Shengelaya, 1963). Important screen faces created in the following years areKhevisberi Gocha (“Khevisberi gotcha,” n. Sanishvili, 1964), God (“begging,” T. Abuladze, 1967), and Kalundauri (“Grandmaster’s Right,” v. Tabliashvili, D. Abashidze, 1969).
He was actively cooperating with other film studios of the Union Countries: “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors” was filmed in Kiev (s. Farajanov, 1964), in which he played the role of Yuri Malfari. Cooperation with Sergo Farajanov continued in the film “Sayatnova” (1968), in which he made the poet’s father’s character flesh. It was shot in the Tajiket film studio film “Noso” (1966) and so on.
Spartak Bagashvili has played the same roles: Lukaia (“I see the sun,” L. Ghogoberidze, 1965), Jankvati (“Siskri Bells,” c. Mgeladze, 1967), self-titled (“Before the Dawn,” b. Mgeladze, 1971), Meborne (“Moon Abduction,” T. Meliava, 1973).
Participates in movies: “Kolkata’s lanterns” (D. Rondell, 1940), “Flood” (T. Goshadze, 1970), “Star of my city” (O. Abesadze, 1970), “Reflection” (O. Abesadze, 1974), “Kolkhuri Ballad” (g. Khojava, 1974).
Spartak Bagashvili was the People’s Artist of Georgia (1963), the laureate of the USSR State Prize (1941), two-time labor red flag ordinance (1938 and 1950).
