Georgia: The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Lasha Dolidze, got acquainted with the ongoing works at the Jighaura base of the Agricultural Scientific and Research Center.
The Scientific Research Center for Agriculture (SRCA) shared the glimpses of their visit on its official Facebook Page on Friday, August 15, 2025. A small note about the inspection works was also shared along with its glimpses.
Professor Levan Ujmajuridze, Director of the Agricultural Scientific and Research Center, introduced to the Deputy Minister the strategic directions of the Center’s activities and ongoing local and international scientific and research projects.
Lasha Dolidze inspected the collection plots and screen greenhouses created on the basis of Jighaura for preservation and spreading of agro-diversity and genetic resources.
The Deputy Minister got acquainted with the updated modern laboratory infrastructure, which provides for ampelographic, pomological, ecophysiological, chemical, microbiological, bacterial, viral, and phytoplasmic diseases based on reliable and valid studies of agricultural cultures in compliance with international standards and placement in the National Catalogue of plants.
The workshop focused on the development of the agricultural sector’s nursery infrastructure. It was noted that the greenhouses, so-called “screenhouses”, of the Jigaura base can be used to supply qualified nurseries with propagating material for vines and fruit trees.
These activities will ensure the completion of the certification system of seeds and seed materials created in the country, accelerate the process of harmonization with its international systems, and supply quality products to the local market. The results of the scientific and research work will be actively used to develop the capabilities of supplying modern agro-innovation products to farmers, rational planning, and monitoring of government stimulus projects.
