Roseau, Dominica: The Newtown Juvenile Football Academy paid a exchange visit to the Portsmouth Football Academy on Saturday 4th February 2022. The visit was commended by the DA Sports Vybez, which called the visit to be ” A Wonderful day in the development of some of Dominica’s young football talent development.”
Both Academy got the opportunity to play with each other in the Under 13, Under 11 and Under 8 categories. The Under 15’s category was unable to play as both Academies Under 15 teams are playing at the Quarter Finals stage of the Dominica Football Association National Under 15 League.Â
Some good young talent were seen as they got the opportunity to show there skills against foriegn opposition after over a year of training post the Covid19 pandemic.Â
As DA Sports Vybez noted, “The results were Secondary, what was important to both Academies was that their student got the opportunity to play some competitive games in a none competition environment. Thanks to Andy Burkard and his team of Coaches and parents in Portsmouth for accepting our request and for being good host. Thank also to Coach Ellington Dunga Sabin for preparing the field for the games.“
Most importantly thanks to our over 50 students who made they journey, their parents who made the trip on their private vehicles and on the bus with and all the dedicated Coaches who were present.
Notably, it was a great experience for the students and Coaches of both Academies as they can now plan their training sessions on their observations during those games.Â
At the end of the day, some of them were unable to make the trip back to town all awake. Newtown Juvenile Football Academy is looking forward to having exchanges with any Academy or any Youth Football programs organization on Island so give us a call at 1 767 225 2188 Coach Don.
