Recently, Czech professors Veronika Mesa, Jiri Pokorn and Marek Smetana of the Technical University of Ostrava (Czech Republic) held a public lecture for the students of the Faculty of Construction of the Technical University of Georgia(STU). This was to highlight the importance of the internationally recommended standards of safety in construction.

Speaking on the occasion professors of the Technical University of Ostrava spoke in detail about various issues like construction norms and rules for electrical, air welding, load-unloading, insulation, earth, stone, concrete and reinforced concrete, installation and other construction work, safety equipment requirements, the latest approaches to construction site organisation, Issues of proper operation of construction machines, technical equipment and vehicle
They also stressed the safety of construction personnel protection of animals and vegetation, and other environmental challenges at the time of construction activities.
Czech professors of Ostrava Technical University also visited the laboratory and educational infrastructure of the Faculty of Construction of STU, where they met with the dean of the faculty, Professor Zurab Gvishian, and the administration and the scientific-academic staff of the faculty.
The visiting professor also apprised STU facilities on priority research in the construction-engineering direction at Ostrava Technical University. The dean of the faculty of STU and heads of departments shared extensive information about the achievements and current research of the Faculty of Construction of STU, including student projects.
Professor Gina Gureshidze, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Construction, stated that during the meeting with the Czech colleagues, they discussed issues of future scientific-academic collaboration with the Technical University of Georgia and discussed the implementation of educational research projects with the involvement of students from both universities of both countries.
As per Gina Gureshidze, the parties focused on the possibilities of implementing joint scientific grant projects in STU as well as on activating the mobility of students and academic staff in both countries, which will contribute to the internationalisation of the teaching-learning process in both universities.
