Kutaisi International University hosted an important workshop on the role of higher educational institutions in labour market development. This workshop was held under an important project of the EU(European Union).

In this workshop, representatives from academic circles, non-governmental organizations, municipalities, and the private sector participated. They all discussed the prospects for the development of the country’s higher education system. Moreover they further discussed labour market challenges and new trends as well as new technologies and their impact on the education sector and labour market development of Georgia.

On this occasion a presentation was also held which described all the aspects of the topic in detail. Some experts addressed the participants through the video conference and shared their experiences from their respective fields.

The role of the university and other higher education institutions towards society was also discussed along with the measures that need to be implemented to boost this contribution in future.

The workshop’s key speakers underlined skill education’s role in producing the market-ready professional. It is to be noted that during the last two decades the upgradation of technology and the needs of the labour market have also changed. The skilled labour is in high demand today compared to people with just a simple academic background.

The participant said the students need more exposure to be labour market-ready. Similar the role of collaboration between educational and skill development institutions was also emphasised during the workshop. The collaboration can provide the students the opportunities to upgrade their existing skills and get themselves hired at multinational companies.

As noted above the workshop was held within the framework of the EU project. The project was implemented by a consortium of universities, including Kutaisi International University, Ivane Javakhishvili State University, Gori State University, TUM International GmbH, Lodz University, and Hale-Wittenberg Martin Luther University.

On the other hand social media users also lauded the workshop and expressed hopes that it would help the students in many ways while reacting to the university’s social media posts.
