Tbilisi: Elene Akhavlediani’s Museum of Georgia is all set to welcome visitors after renovation. It will be opened to the public on November 7, 2024.

It is worth noting that the rehabilitation project of the Elene Akhvlediani House-Museum, which is part of the National Museum of Georgia museum group, started in early 2024.

The museum’s rehabilitation work was started with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports and it has now been successfully completed.

It is to be noted that the house museum was completely renovated and equipped with the latest techniques under the project’s framework.

The museum-standard heating-cooling and lighting systems were fully rehabilitated and the electrical and water supply systems were also updated during the rehabilitation.

According to the latest information, a museography project was implemented in the renovated house-museum. The aim was to fully restore the original shape of Elene Akhavlediani’s residence and workshop  especially the part of the artist’s residence.

The museum’s exhibition space was restored with a slight change in the exposition. Moreover the works selected for the exhibition at the museum’s opening were fully displayed, as the artist herself had displayed in his apartment workshop. Notably the House-Museum of Elene Akhvlediani was opened in 1976, one year after her death.

For the renewed exhibition of her artwork, more than 100 graphic works were replaced with frames and part-outs. The restoration and conservation laboratory restorers of the Georgian State Art Museum named after Shalva Amiranashvili, restored paintings and graphic works.

At the same time new wooden frames were made for some of the canvases and old frames were also restored. A total of 44 paintings were updated, and they are now ready for public display as well. T

he unique exhibit is the traditional Georgian blue table of the 19th century belonging to Elene Akhvlediani. The table was restored and conserved  as was the artist’s furniture.

The artist’s personal and memorial items were fully returned to the exhibition space. The museum plans to hold chamber concerts and various events. Absolutplus company rehabilitated the artist’s house museum. The total cost of the work is 376,180 GEL
