Georgia: The Ensemble “Batumi” presented Georgian traditional dances on the second day of the 38th Jerashi Culture Festival in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on July 25, 2024.

The State Academic Ensemble of Georgian National Dance, Enver Khabadze of Batumi Cultural Center, was presented to the audience, introducing Georgian traditional choreography.

The event was attended by the Minister of Culture of Jordan, Haifa Najari, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports of Georgia, Nikoloz Aznaurashvili, the Ambassador of Emergency and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Jordan, Archil Dzuliashvili, and other guests.

Many people visit the festival every year. On July 25, the concert was full, and Georgian art excited the audience.

This year, the Jerashi Cultural Festival is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of King Abdullah II’s reign. It is one of Jordan’s most important cultural events, featuring Jordanian intellectual and cultural programs and Jordanian and Arabic poetry.

For information: Minister of Culture and Sports Thea Tsulukiani held a number of important meetings during her visit to Jordan. He met Haifa Najar, the Minister of Culture of Jordan. Ministers discussed the issues of strengthening relations and cultural cooperation between the two countries. Special attention was paid to the protection of cultural heritage and national identity.

The Minister visited the Shihan Georgian Desert Monastery in Karak and met with local authorities: State Al-Masaede, the head of the Karak Tourism Directorate, and Basil Halasa, an employee of the Antiquities Department in Karak.

It is essential that after successful negotiations and preparation for future cooperation, an agreement has already been reached that the Georgian side should form a team of Georgian scientists-archaeologists who will travel to Jordan and start planning archaeological works with their colleagues there.

Thea Tsulukiani was with Archil Dzuliashvili and Nikoloz Aznaurashvili on Mount Nebo (Moses). The Minister met with the clergy members and talked to them about Petre Iber, a prominent Georgian ecclesiastical priest, Bishop of Mayumi, who was visited by the Georgian Church on Mount Nebo (Moses) about the Holy Prophet, the leader of the Jews and the oppressor, Moses. After the people believed in Peter Iber’s vision, they found a temple named after Saint Moses in the place of this vision.

It is meaningful that during the meeting with the Minister, local clergy members expressed their desire to hold a concert of Georgian traditional choir and multi-voice songs in the Cathedral named after St. Moses the Prophet.

Thea Tsulukiani also visited the city of Madaba, where she met Majdi Aliatu, a member of the Senate of the Hashimite Kingdom of Jordan, and a representative of the Hashemite Kingdom Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Values of Jordan, Wai Janini.
