Rustavi: New ecological project comes under “save nature-Georgia”

Under the project “Save nature-Georgia” a large-scale ecological project is being implemented in Rustavi municipality of Georgia.

Under the project “Save nature-Georgia” a large-scale ecological project is being implemented in Rustavi municipality of Georgia. The Ministry of the Environment and Agriculture is also supporting this project.

On this occasion the representative of the municipality planted many plants and trees. The municipality is responsible for the protection of the flora and fauna under its jurisdiction. The municipality also holds many seminars and workshops to raise awareness among the general public on forest conservation and other forest issues as well.

It is to be specifically mentioned that within the framework of the program “Save Nature – Georgia” in the year 2023 a detailed plan for reforestation and rebuilding was prepared for a 160-hectare area of Rustavi forest. Moreover according to this plan a training seminar on the restoration of the Rustavi forest was held for employees of the Rustavi Service Center, Municipal Inspection, Youth Department, and other relevant agencies of Rustavi Municipality.

That workshop included two phases in the first stage a two-day seminar was held, where the participants learned the study methodology developed for forest protection, restoration, and maintenance measures, and in the second stage a two-day planting fieldwork was implemented.

“Effective cooperation took place today in Rustavi Chali forest between the Ministry, local municipality, and civic initiative groups which jointly participated in the planting event which is very important for restoration and sustainable development of the Rustavi Forest landscape” – noted the Khatuna Z, Head of the Swedish Embassy Development Cooperation Environmental Program by aldastanishvili

The agencies and persons who participated in the planting event included the representatives of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, the Central Implementing Unit of the Project “Save Nature – Georgia”, Local Municipality Representatives, and Volunteers of the Rustavi City Hall Youth Employment Project “New Greenery”.

This representative of the agency said that these initiatives will be held in the future as well.
