Tbilisi: The consultations related to European integration issues will be held in Tbilisi for the first time, on December 15-16, 2022, with Ministries of Foreign and European Affairs of Georgia and Western Balkan countries (Albania, Montenegro, Serbia and North Macedonia) among high-ranking diplomats.
Joint consultations on the part of Georgia are hosted by the General Directorate of European Integration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was opened by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teimuraz Janjalia. The main purpose of consultations is in the process of European integration
The creation of formats for mutual sharing of accumulated experience with the countries of the Western Balkans at the working level would be aimed. The mentioned formats are agreed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and various sectoral ministries.Â
Within the framework of consultations, representatives of the Western Balkans delegation, in addition to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, hold meetings with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Justice, Defense, Environmental Protection and Agriculture with high-ranking representatives of the ministries, as well as the parliament and the National Bank.
The guests will also have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the individual directions of the reforms implemented in Georgia, such as providing services to citizens, the operation of the emergency response center, etc.
A meeting will be held at the European Union Information Center with representatives of the civil sector of Georgia, who work on issues of European integration of Georgia.
Within the framework of the consultations, various specific issues are discussed, including the preparation of high-level joint visits of Georgia and the countries of the Western Balkans region by 2023.
Formation of consultation formats at various levels with the countries of the Western Balkans is an initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which followed the European Council granting Georgia the perspective of EU membership and, in the wake of the said decision, moving Georgia into the regular enlargement package.
