Batumi: The city-based court have sent the female journalist Mzia Amaghlobeli to remand. She was arrested initially on administrative ground and then was charged for attacking a police officer.
There was a sloganeering when court ordered to send her again to remand yesterday. The journalist also carried a piece of paper with words “Unjust Court” written on it.
She was produced before court after ending of her hunger strike. The defence lawyer also opposed her remand extension. However, the judge didn’t accept this demand of defence counsel and send her to remand again.
The court hearing today witnessed new facts which revealed by prosecution before judge.The prosecution claimed that Mzia Amaghlobeli pre-planned attack on police officer with involvement of many other accused.
According to lawyer a report dated February 15 has been submitted today in court. As per report the journalist was in touch with other person to plan attack on the police officer.
So, after submitting this report the prosecution officer demand access of her phone for investigation. However, the defence counsel requested judge to reject this request as this will expose her personal data to risk during investigation.
The judge while accepting the submission of prosecution that if she is set free, she may destroy evidence send her to remand. The defence counsel claimed that she is being made victim for her political affiliation. Moreover, a slap with left hand cannot be called assault.
The journalist Mzia Amaghlobeli during her appearance also expressed her view and said that she have not committed any crime. The dictatorship in our country have not established itself yet and I hope that with support of the prisoners we will proved our innocence and will continue our fight against the anti-people policies of a undemocratic government.
He colleagues as well as diplomats of number of countries were gathered outside court complex to show their support for her.
