Tbilisi: A number of former officials and government representatives have issued a joint statement. In this joint statement, they have urged the governments of Western countries to support the Georgian people.
It is worth noting that the officials include many higher officials and political leaders, two former speakers and a former Prime Minister. They also include many former cabinet ministers members of non-governmental organizations and civil society organizations.
It also has many professionals, think tanks and Supreme Court members. They all issue joint statements and call the leaders of European Union countries, the United Kingdom government and the government of the United States of America for putting pressure on Georgian Goevernment.
All the signatories of the joint statement added that after the election of October 26, the democracy and civil rights of people have also come under serious threat. According to them in the absence of any action, the Georgian Dream rule will ruin the independent media voices.
They also blamed the ruling party “Georgian Dream” for committing election fraud. Moreover in a joint statement, they cited the report of international observers who also revealed the incidents of election fraud.
The joint statement further underlined that an international, independent investigation is also needed to extract the truth behind these incidents of election fraud. Moreover this will put pressure on the ruling party to protect the rights of citizens and take every decision with the utmost care.
Notably as per the statement due to the high violation of election rules, the admission of the election result will amount to surrender before Russian forces. The statement called the international leader to ask the Georgian government about following issues:
- Publication of election results
- Ordering international investigation about election results
- Holing fresh election under international supervision The process to issue this joint statement was initiated by the “Vote for Europe” and an intimate, namely” culture for democracy.” To date it has secured the signature of almost 200 people associated with different fields of Georgia.
