Moscow: The Kremlin, on Monday has, stated that gas flow to Europe would only resume if the sanctions imposed on Russia were lifted. The spokesman of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, has clarified that the gas flow has been disrupted only because of the sanctions that have been imposed on Russia.
Russia, earlier stated that the interruptions were caused as the Nord Stream 1 pipeline was down for repairs.
The problems of gas pumping arose from the sanctions that have been imposed against the country and the Russian companies by the West, that includes Germany and the United States. And there are no other reasons that could have inhibited the gas flow to Europe.
“Sanctions that prevent the units from being serviced, that prevent them from being moved without appropriate legal guarantees. It is these sanctions imposed by Western states that have brought the situation to what we see now,” Peskov added.
Europe has been undergoing the worst crisis of energy for the past few months now. Ever since Russia has invaded Ukraine, Russia has been under various sanctions from western nations.
The Nord Stream 1 had been shut down for three days on Friday for maintenance and repairs. However, the pipeline wasn’t restored to normalcy on its scheduled day and had been shut down for an indefinite time, which has been a major concern for the Europeans.
