The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songulashvili, together with the Georgian government delegation, is on an official visit to the People’s Republic of China. The delegation is headed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
During the visit, David Songulashvili will sign memorandums of cooperation between the two countries, which cover the fields of agriculture and environmental protection. The memorandums are meant to share experience and set priorities for collaboration.
“Cooperation and creation of new opportunities between the two countries are very important. The memorandum on environmental protection takes into account issues related to waste management, biodiversity, and air quality, as well as sharing experiences with ecotourism,” David Songhulashvili said.
As the Minister noted, taking into account a number of directions, cooperation between ministries will deepen even further.
“It is particularly noteworthy to sign a memorandum that provides the possibility of developing chicken export in Georgia.” This is China’s recognition of quality and reliability. Such opportunities enable our country to develop agriculture even more, to increase agro-food production even more, and to strengthen the country’s economy,” David Songhulashvili said.
The Georgian government delegation is in the People’s Republic of China, at the invitation of Prime Minister Li Qian of the Council of State. The Members of the delegation will participate in the opening ceremony of the International Import Exhibition of China, in which Georgia is participating as a guest of honor this year.

During the visit, Minister Songulashvili will sign Memoranda of Cooperation between Georgia and China in the environmental and agricultural sectors. Respective Agreements aim to facilitate the exchange of experience and expertise, and identify priority areas for future bilateral collaboration.
“Strengthening cooperation and creating new opportunities between our countries are essential. The environmental Memorandum encompasses key areas, including waste management, biodiversity protection, air quality, and the exchange of experience in ecotourism,” noted David Songulashvili.
The Minister noted that the cooperation between the Ministries will become even more comprehensive across multiple areas.
“Particularly noteworthy is the Memorandum with the Ministry of Agriculture, under which Georgia will have the opportunity to export poultry meat to China. This is a highly significant Agreement, representing China’s recognition of the reliability of our product quality. Such opportunities enable our country to further develop its agricultural sector, increase agro-food production, and strengthen the national economy,” Songulashvili emphasized.
The Georgian Government Delegation is visiting China at the invitation of Premier Li Qiang, the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
