Georgia: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, is on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he met with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, on Tuesday.
The main agenda of the meeting is the signing of an agreement on the creation of an intergovernmental coordination council between Georgia and Saudi Arabia. The signing of this document will significantly contribute to deepening economic and political cooperation between the countries. It will take the quality of relations between the two countries to a new level.
The intergovernmental coordination council will be a platform for regular dialogue and consultation on various issues of mutual interest, such as trade, investment, tourism, culture, education, and security. The council will also facilitate the implementation of joint projects and initiatives in the fields of mutual benefit.
It is noteworthy that the establishment of a joint intergovernmental commission between the two countries in 2022, within the framework of the visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Saudi Arabia, was decided at the meeting between Irakli Gharibashvili and the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saudi.
The visit of the Georgian Foreign Minister to Saudi Arabia is expected to strengthen further the strategic partnership and friendship between the two nations, which share common values and interests. The visit will also provide an opportunity to exchange views on regional and international developments and challenges.
The Georgia Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Giorgi Janjgava, and other officials from both countries will attend the meeting.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan
Prince Faisal bin Farhan is a Saudi Arabian diplomat, politician and a member of the House of Saud. Prince Faisal has also served as the Saudi ambassador to Germany since 27 March 2019 until his appointment as the foreign minister of Saudi Arabia.
