The Minister of Environment and Agriculture David Songulashvili, termed Georgia-Armenia relations more stable than past. He is on official visit to Armenia being part of Georgian delegation under prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
The minister during this official visit spoke about increasing trade relations between Armenia and Georgia in the field of agriculture and strengthening cooperation in the field of environmental protection.
He while speaking specifically added that, “The potential for trade between the two countries is quite large. One of the important ones, of course is to increase the export of agricultural products. We will have quite active cooperation in this direction.”
“I would like to note that there are also a number of issues in the field of environmental protection that we can discuss in a regional context, work together and resolve by consensus. There are also practices that we can share with each other and within the framework of the relationship, quite active and fruitful cooperation can be established,” said David Songhulashvili.
As the minister noted, trade in agricultural products between Georgia and Armenia is active. Wine is one of the products exported to Armenia. However, there is real potential for growth and good results can be achieved through cooperation.
It is worth to note that bilateral trade between both countries have touched new milestones. The development of about this enhanced financial relation was also underlined by foreign minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan during his meeting with members of Georgian delegations.
Similar views also have been expressed by the Maka Bochorishvili, the foreign minister of Georgia. Moreover the foreign minister reiterated to boost economic cooperation in future also.
The Minister of Environment and Agriculture David Songulashvili during this official visit further highlighted many other important issues including regional cooperation and transit transport.
According to minister Songulashvili, the region covering Georgia, Armenia as well as South Caucasus has huge potential for more stable economic progress. Notably trade between both countries has crossed $ 1 billion in last years.
