Georgia: The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia Hubert Knirsch, during which both sides discussed the issues of deepening cooperation between Georgia and the German Government in the field of vocational education.

The Minister thanked the Ambassador for several important projects implemented in the field of vocational education in Georgia with the support of the German Government and paid particular attention to the results achieved by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). It was with the support of GIZ that a dual model of German teaching was introduced in the Georgian vocational education system, which is being successfully implemented and developed today.

The meeting highlighted the project implemented by the German Public Schools Association (DVV International) with the financial support of the German side, within the framework of which adult education centres were opened in different regions of Georgia. At present, there are 13 such centres across the country, which significantly helps the Georgian side in adult education in the regions of Georgia.

For his part, Hubert Knirsch thanked Mikheil Chkhenkel for the fruitful cooperation and reaffirmed his readiness to support the Georgian education system. The German Ambassador also spoke about the possibilities of implementing new joint projects in the field of vocational education.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Valerian Gobronidze and the Head of the Development Cooperation Service of the German Embassy, Lydia Kristman.
