The Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, visited the Anaklia Youth Camp and met with students of the Georgian Technical University, who are participants in the first year of the camp in 2026.
The Minister spoke about the development of youth policy, projects to be implemented, the main directions of higher education reform, and student support initiatives. As Givi Mikanadze noted, the Ministry pays special attention to the expansion of youth camps.
“The development of camp spaces is one of the important changes in youth policy. The renovation of the Shaori camp is underway, and then we will host students in Racha, in a modern Standard environment. The rehabilitation of the Kutaisi Youth Center is also underway, which will be completed next year.
At the same time, we are looking for spaces for further expansion of the youth camp project. In this perspective, we have large-scale plans, and we think that in the coming years, we will have five youth camps in different regions of Georgia,” said Givi Mikanadze.
The students were also addressed by the head of the Society Agency, Aleksandre Kajaia, and the rector of the Georgian Technical University, Davit Guridze.
The meeting was held in a question-and-answer mode. The students had the opportunity to ask the minister questions on issues of interest to them and share their opinions.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Ministers of Education, Youth and Sports of Georgia Zviad Gabisonia, State Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Region David Verava and Mayor of Zugdidi Municipality David Kodua.
This year, the Anaklia Youth Camp will be held in 11 camps from July 19 to August 11 and will host a total of 2,640 young people. Among them will be 720 schoolchildren and 1,920 students.
The goal of the camp is to promote the social life of young people, increase active recreation and access to non-formal education, and popularize a healthy lifestyle and national indicators.
The camp program is five days long and provides young people with the opportunity to participate in educational, cognitive, and sports activities.
This year, the camp infrastructure, material and technical base, and the camp are fully equipped with the necessary inventory.
Before the students were admitted, a training course for leaders was held at the Anaklia camp base, in which 140 young people participated. After the training, the selected leaders work in summer camps. Approximately 250 leaders will be employed in youth camps annually.
