Tbilisi: The Committee on Environmental Protection and Natural Resources discussed the bill on amendments to the Law “National Archive Fund and National Archives” at the first hearing.
 According to Nana Zamtaradze’s explanation of the First Deputy Head of the National Mineral Resources Agency, due to changes in technical nature, the National Agency for Mineral Resources will have the right to preserve the National Archive Fund /geological foundation archive.Â
At the meeting of the Committee, the leading Committee, the changes in the law on “state property” were discussed with the following bills. It is noteworthy that the bill will change the rule of disposal of illegally obtained deforestation, allowing authorized bodies (state forest management agencies) to dispose of deforestation efficiently without losing their quality and commercial value.
During the session, the Committee on the Protection of the Environment and Natural Resources discussed the generation of the “Loan Agreement between Georgia and the European Reconstruction and Development Bank” (Adjara Solid Waste Project – Phase II) which is proposed by the government for ratification.Â
The agreement provides for the allocation of a tranche by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the construction of a waste processing plant. In the first stage of the project, the closure of the old, unconstitutional landfill in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Batumi and Kobuleti municipalities, as well as the arrangement of a sanitary landfill in the village Tsetskhlauri of Kobuleti municipality.
Additional resources are needed to buy moving equipment for the new landfill site. In particular, 3 million euros are required in order to buy the equipment.
Meanwhile, the First Deputy Finance Minister of Georgia _ Giorgi Kakauridze, introduced the financial conditions of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) loan to the deputies.
Notably, The Committee on Environmental Protection and Natural Resources has supported the ratification of the International Agreement.
