The Justice Education Center of Georgia has launched a new project. The project name is the Georgian language online course.

It is to be specifically to mention that the course is free for all interested persons and will help popularize the Georgian language. Notably the 14 April is observed as the Georgian national language day every year in Georgia.

While addressing the participants on the project Deputy Minister of Justice, Tornike Cheishvili spoke about the importance of this project for diaspora and ethnic minority representatives at the presentation. He further added that more and more initiatives will be taken in the future for the promotion of the Georgian language across the region.

“One of the priorities of the Ministry of Justice is the availability of public services and citizens must receive public services provided to them without language barriers. That’s why we have created the first online course of the Georgian language and a suitable web platform at the Justice Training Center, which will help citizens learn the Georgian language and simplify communication while receiving the service” said the Deputy Minister.

The Georgian language online course was created by the Justice Training Center with the financial support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the German government. Moreover, the Digital Government Agency of the Ministry of Justice prepared an online platform. The content of the Georgian language course is available in four languages (English, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Ukrainian).

At the same time, the course includes 20 lessons and is for non-Georgian speaking persons. After the completion of the training the attendees will receive a certificate, and the potential beneficiaries of the project are:
• Representatives of Georgian diasporas living in different countries;
• Citizens of Georgia ethnic minorities;
• Asylum seekers, refugees, and persons with humanitarian status in Georgia;
• Persons wishing to receive Georgian citizenship;
• Citizens of foreign countries interested in Georgian culture.

The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Justice, Representatives of the Executive Power, UNDP, the Department of State Language, the German Embassy in Georgia, the Justice Training Center, and other guests.
