A memorable stamp has been issued by Georgia which is dedicated to European Winter Youth Olympic Festival. This is stamp which is released by the order of Georgian the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
It is worth to note that after the order of ministry the national postage stamps dedicated to the European Winter Youth Olympic Festival 2025 were put into circulation. At the same time based on the order of ministry a four-stamp sheet was printed by the Georgian Post, which is available for purchase at Georgian Post branches. The face value of each postage stamp is 1.0 GEL, and the circulation is 20,000 pieces. The author of the stamp design is Badri Koblianidze.
Notably on the recommendation of the Standing Commission for the Issuance of National Postage Stamps of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and in cooperation with the Georgian Olympic Committee, the Ministry developed and approved the design of the postage stamp “Bakuriani 2025”. As we know, Georgia is hosting the European Winter Youth Olympic Festival this year.
The official of postal department of Georgia said, holding such a high-ranking competition in Georgia is another great recognition of Georgia as a popular destination for winter resorts and sports of country. It is very important that winter sports in the country have begun and the necessary international-level infrastructure for this has been established in country also. Work is actively underway in this regard and the results are visible.
The postage stamps dedicated to the European Winter Youth Olympic Festival will contribute to Georgia’s positioning on the international stage as a destination for high-level winter sports activities. The Winter Olympic Festival “Bakuriani 2025” was officially opened on February 9 and will last until February 16. The festival will bring together 1,000 athletes from 45 countries in eight sports.
These eight sports are the alpine skiing, biathlon, free skating, figure skating, ice hockey, short track, ski racing, snowboarding. Georgia will be represented by 8 athletes in three sports (figure skating, alpine skiing and biathlon).
