During an official visit to Ankara, Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth Givi Mikanadze met with the current president of Middle East Technical University (METU) Ender Gieroglu and the representatives of the administration.

The parties discussed issues of strengthening cooperation between Georgian universities and the Technical University of the Middle East.
The conversation touched on the implementation of joint educational and scientific projects, the promotion of exchange programs for students and academic staff, as well as the development of cooperation in the field of innovations and modern technologies.
The Minister briefed the participants of the meeting on the Higher Education Reform and focused on the importance of international cooperation in terms of improving the quality of education within the framework of the reform. He said the Ministry places a special emphasis on collaborating with leading universities in different countries, which promotes new opportunities for students and strengthens international connections.
The acting president of the Middle East Technical University (METU) positively assessed the ongoing processes in the Georgian education system and expressed his willingness to deepen cooperation with Georgian universities.
Givi Mikanadze also inspected the educational infrastructure of the university’s technopark (METU Technopark) and got acquainted with the educational activities.
Technical University of the Middle East is one of the leading and prestigious public research universities in Turkey. The academy has been operating and preparing competitive professionals since 1956, especially in engineering, natural sciences, architecture, economics and social sciences.
The minister was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Zviad Gabisonia and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Turkey Archil Kalandia.
