Strasbourg, France: The Head of the President’s Office of Personal Data Protection Service (PDPS) of Georgia, Nikoloz Popiashvili, participated in the 13th plenary session of the platform- EuroDIG and the Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAI) of the Council of Europe. The 13th plenary session was held from May 12-14, 2025, in the Capital of France, Strasbourg.
The Personal Data Protection Service (PDPS) of Georgia shared the glimpses of the session on its Official Facebook page on May 20, 2025. The Service also shared some information related to the 13th plenary session.
According to the information shared by PDPS, it should be noted that the event was hosted by the Council of Europe in cooperation with the Luxembourg Presidency. It focuses on Safeguarding human rights by balancing regulation and innovation.
EuroDIG (European dialogue on Internet Governance)
EuroDIG (European dialogue on Internet Governance) is an open platform, established in 2008. It is supported by the Council of Europe, the European Commission, UNESCO, and organizations from various European countries.Â
Aim of EuroDIG
The Main aim of the platform is to discuss best practice support and alternative approaches with government representatives, non-governmental groups, and specialists in the fields of laws. The Platform also aims to consult public governance principles about best practice support and alternative Sharing of ideas on approaches.Â
Key Highlights of the 13th Plenary Session
EuroDIG covered the current topics related to the security of personal data, including artificial intelligence and neurodata at the 13th plenary session of the Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAI) of the Council of Europe.
However, EuroDIG also discussed the impact assessment of artificial intelligence systems (HUDERIA) and relevant methodology (COBRA). Notably, the representatives of about 100 countries and organizations participated in the discussion.
Additionally, it is worth noting that the Personal Data Protection Service (PDPS) has been a member of the Council of Europe’s Committee on Artificial Intelligence Experts (CAI) since 2022. So, the service presented its expert opinion and relevant recommendations during discussions held at plenary sessions of the Committee.
