The prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Georgia has filed charges against one person for cruelty to animals. He is also accused of the illegal possession of narcotic drugs and ammunition.
The animal cruelty has caused its mutilation. The accused also committed the offence of illegal storage of narcotic drugs and ammunition.
The preliminary investigation in this regard was carried out by the Internal Affairs Ministry. The investigation carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that on March 13, in the city of Tetritskaro, a person who had been convicted in the past and was under a suspended sentence caused animal cruelty. Moreover, based on anger caused by the barking of a dog in the street the accused with the motive of revenge, inflicted a wound on the animal with an axe which caused the animal’s mutilation.
The agencies also made efforts to make another breakthrough in the case and on the same day, law enforcement officers seized a large amount of illegally stored narcotics – 130.6 grams of dried marijuana and ammunition from the residence of the accused.
It is to be added that the accused was arrested on March 13 for animal cruelty as well. He is charged with the second part of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Georgia ( for carrying a cold weapon by a person convicted of an intentional crime) as well as with the first part of Article 259 (cruelty to an animal), along with subsection “b” of the fifth part of Article 273 of the Criminal Code of Georgia ( for marijuana Illegal purchase and storage, committed in a large amount, multiple times) and the third part of Article 236 (illegal purchase and storage of combat material) the punishment of these offences provides for imprisonment from minimum 3 to 6 years.
The prosecutor’s office applies to the court with a motion to use imprisonment as a preventive measure within the time limit set by law.
