Tea Tsulukiani, Georgian minister of culture and sports visited the construction site of the sports museum at the Olympic pool sports complex. She was accompanied by Nino Salukvadze the director of the sports museum.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the construction works with the support of the Ministry of Sports began in December 2023 and are actively ongoing in full swing. The construction will be end by September 2024.
Ministry of youth and Sports in 2022 provided a 909 square meter area for the construction. This area was given free of cost to the Olympic pool which is under the administration of the Ministry of Sport in Dighomi where in 2023 the construction work of the Georgian Sports Museum began. It will include an exhibition hall, storage, and workspace for museum employees.
Notably, the Sports Museum joined the National Museum of Georgia in 2018. After joining the National Museum of Georgia its exhibits were kept in boxes and visitors were not allowed to see them. The sports museum at the entrance of the former building of the Ministry of Sports had an area of about 50 sq.m.
With the special efforts of the employees of the Sports Museum the exhibits have not lost their attention and after the arrangement of construction of the Sports Museum sports fans and athletes, themselves will be able to visit and see awards or other exhibits of Georgian sports.
