Tbilisi: The Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia, Thea Tsulukiani, visited the rehabilitation and repair works of the building given by the state to the State Academic Ensemble of Folk Song and Dance “Erision”.
The building handed over to the ensemble already includes demolition work, full foundation rehabilitation, partial roof rehabilitation, interior rehabilitation, facade rehabilitation, heating and ventilation systems and air conditioning.
During the meeting, Tea Tsulukiani discussed the ongoing rehabilitation works, after the completion of which, the building will be fully restored.
Notably, Ensemble “Erision” was given by the state in 2014 for the duration of the existence of the ensemble in the city of Tbilisi, Khetagurov st. 4080 sq.m. building located in N26.
The building was in a bad condition, it needed rehabilitation and the ensemble, unfortunately, could not use it. Currently, “Erision” is operating in the “Officer’s House”, where the conditions are also difficult and unsuitable, but the ensemble will use this space until the rehabilitation works of their building are completed.
The Ministry of Culture of Georgia allocated 180 000 GEL for the complete rehabilitation of the state-given building for the ensemble “Erisioni” in June 2021.Â
The contract was signed with the winning construction company “Impost Ltd” in the tender announced by the Ministry on May 25, 2022 and the implementation of the project began from the same day.
The rehabilitation works are expected to be completed by spring 2024, after which the building will be phased out. The total cost of rehabilitation is 12 600 000 GEL.Â
After rehabilitation, the ensemble “Erisioni” will receive a building of modern standards. In particular, the building will contain: a concert hall, the appropriate lighting and sound of the ensemble’s show programs, a sound recording studio, equipped rehearsal halls and dressing rooms, gyms and showers for actors, heating, air conditioning, ventilation and washing.
Also, the rehabilitated building will have rehearsal spaces for the “Erision” school studio. The State Academic Ensemble of Song and Dance “Erision” was created in 1885. During its existence, the ensemble has achieved a number of successes and spread across many countries around the world.
 In 2002 in Paris, “Erision” was awarded a golden disc. In 2010, the star of the ensemble with 137-year history was opened. It is notable that in 1977 the “Chakrulo” sent to space by NASA was performed by members of “Erision”.
