Georgian Minister of Education and Science Mikheil Chkhenkel held a meeting with his Italian counterpart Patrizio Bianchi during his official visit to Rome.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the details of cooperation between the countries in the field of general education. In particular, the talk was about strengthening the teaching of Italian in public schools in Georgia and promoting the professional development of teachers.
Italian Minister of Education expressed willingness to cooperate and thanked Mikheil Chkhenkel for supporting teaching Italian in Georgian schools.
In addition, Mikheil Chkhenkel provided information to his Italian colleague about opening Ukrainian-language sectors in Georgia.Â
According to the Minister, by the decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, Ukrainian-language school sectors were opened in Tbilisi and Batumi, where pupils from Ukraine have general education in their native language, according to the same curriculum Opportunity to accept, with which they studied in Ukrainian schools.
Mikheil Chkhenkel also said that by the decision of the Georgian Government, Ukrainian students are enrolled in Georgian schools in a simplified manner, and at this time, up to 1000 students across Georgia receive general education.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia invited his Italian counterpart to Georgia.
