Georgia: The Georgian Minister of IDPs, Labor, Health and Social Protection, Zurab Azarashvili reiterated the development of the Georgian health care sector at a government session. As he updated, “Tbilisi will have a new, modern and high-tech republican hospital, which will answer existing challenges and meet all standards necessary for quality healthcare for the population.”Â
 According to Zurab Azarashvili, at this stage, work is underway on the concept of a new Republican hospital, which will be presented to the public in the near future.
“Unfortunately, the Republican and Children’s Infectious Hospital in Tbilisi can not stand any criticism today, due to the infrastructural or various types of problems there.” “From 2025, all clinics in Georgia involved in the universal healthcare program must meet international standards,” said the Minister of Health.Â
According to him, the new Republican hospital will also house a Children’s Oncology Center, on which the work has already begun several months ago.
“As for terms, the completion of the new republican hospital will take two, two-and-a-half years and will ultimately get a state-owned, high-tech clinic that is truly essential.” The decision to rehabilitate this clinic, the work started on the establishment of the State Children’s Oncology Center was also accelerated.Â
According to the concept, the pediatric oncology center will be part of the new republican hospital. “The Republican Clinic will meet the international standards that will be mandatory for all clinics involved in the comprehensive health care program from 2025,” Zurab Azarashvili said.
The Minister of Health also paid attention to the Children’s Infectious Hospital. According to him, the repair works of the new building of the Tbilisi Infectious Hospital will be completed in a few months. As Zurab Azarashvili noted, it is in this space that will be placed the modern standards, high-tech infectious diseases hospital for adults and children and its team.
