Georgia: MP Ramaz Nikolaishvili attends 62nd session of PABSEC

Georgian Member of Parliament Ramaz Nikolaishvili attended the 62nd session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC). The assembly session took place on November 15 to 17 in Kyiv, the capital city of Ukraine.

During the session of the parliamentary assembly, The main topic of discussion aimed to take step towards strengthening the role of parliaments in the region of the black sea.

The role of parliaments can be significant in the direction of security and the development of cooperation. At the same time, the parliamentary assembly also adopted a declaration addressing the current situation in Ukraine and supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, which is facing challenges due to the ongoing war.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the Russian delegation officially left the Parliamentary Assembly of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC).

The General Assembly of PABSEC also adopted recommendations and reports on the following topics: “enhancing the role of parliaments of participants countries towards the child protection policy”. “PABSEC’s 30-year cooperation, promotion of cooperation in the region of the black sea”, “National strategies and cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence.

At the plenary session of the meeting, Ramaz Nikolaishvili, member of the Parliament of Georgia, was elected for the post of Vice President of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Parliamentary Assembly. His term for this office would be for a term of 2 years.
Moreover, the election of the General Secretary of the Assembly was also held, and Asaf Hajiyev was elected for the post of general secretary for another term, who currently serving on the position of the General Secretary of the Assembly.

On the sideline of the meeting, Ramaz Nikolaishvili held a bilateral meeting with the Chairman of the Ukrainian Rada (Parliament), Ruslan Stefanchuk. In addition, Ramaz Nikolaishvili met many other assembly delegates in Bucha and Irpin, where he got himself familiar with the current situation.
