Georgia: New Reservists of National Guard take Military Oath

Tbilisi: New Reservists of the 203rd Territorial Defense Battalion of the 20th Territorial Defense Brigade of the National Guard of Georgia took a military oath. This oath-taking ceremony took place on 10th November 2023 at the Osiauri military base in Georgia.

It is to be specifically mentioned that this particular subdivision was formed for the first time and was completed by reservists of the Shida Kartli region of the country. The oath ceremony was held at Osiauri military base as an impressive ceremony.

On this occasion, the head of the National Guard of Georgia Brigader General Roman Jokhadze addressed the reservists and congratulated them on enlisting in the reserve forces of the country and wished them success in the service of the country. At the same time, Representatives of the National Guard and mayors of Shida Kartli Municipality also attended the oath-taking ceremony.

It is worth mentioning that reservist’s intensive combat training includes a period of 36 to 45 days divided evenly over 12 months of the whole year. The main aim of the training course is to teach reservists real combat and fighting skills at subdivision field meetings.

During the period of territorial deployment of these recruits they will benefit from medical services and will also be provided with social and legal protection as per law. Their salary for a year is 4218 GEL and After one contract of reserve service, they will be considered for compulsory military service if they pass the essential requirements.

Meanwhile, at the oath-taking ceremony newly recruited reservist also gave their skill demonstration to present dignitaries. All the reservists were dressed in full military dress.

In full military dresses they also were holding their service rifles along with them. All the reservists were full discipline. They also gave a guard of honour to a top military officer who was present there.

The senior member of the unit was holding the national flag of the Republic of Georgia.  After the oath-taking ceremony Georgia Brigader General Roman Jokhadze, while addressing the new reservists motivated them to serve the nation with pride.He also apprised the new reservists about the various welfare schemes of the army meant for new reservists.

Ministry of Defence also took to its social media page to provide information in this regard. Many social media users commented to appreciate these young soldiers.Nino imnadze-Tamarashvili commented, “Stay Strong.” Similarly, Georgia Keinashvili posted the flag of Georgia in the Comment section.
