Georgian Arm Holders Union gains recognition

The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia has announced the acceptance of applications for the Arm Wrestling Sports Organization recognition. After discussing and evaluating the submitted documentation, the Ministry decided to recognize the Association of Arm Wrestling A(a) IP of Georgia.

Georgia: The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia has announced the acceptance of applications for the Georgian Arm Holders Union recognition. After discussing and evaluating the submitted documentation, the Ministry decided to recognize the Association of Arm Wrestling A(a) IP of Georgia.

Georgian Arm Wrestling Association was founded by famous and talented athletes who also participated in its management.

The honorary President of the Union is the first European and World Champion in Armwrestling in the history of Georgia Zaur Tskhadadze; President is Georgian Champion and Prize winner, European and World Championships participant Avtandil Akhvlediani; Vice President – European and World Champion Revaz Lutidze and Georgian Prize winner Nika Akhalbedashvili.

The members of the board of the Union are: European and World Champion, World Cup winner Levan Saginashvili; multiple champion of Georgia, multiple European and World winner Irakli Gamtenadze; champion of Georgia, European Championship silver medalist Guram Pashurishvili and Giorgi Godabrelidze.

The Union’s rule is based on the guidelines approved by the Minister of Sports in 2021.

For information, the Ministry of Arm Wrestling has been recognized as A(a)IP Georgian Unified National Arm Wrestling Federation since 2016, which the Ministry of Sport has stopped funding since 2021.

An audit conducted by the Department of Internal Audit of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia (compliance of financial operations and financial audit) confirmed violations in the federation. Due to the severity of the violations revealed, the conclusion of the audit was sent to the General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia for further response.

Based on the audit’s conclusion, it was determined that the United National Arm Wrestling Federation of Georgia’s actions over the years had a negative impact on the reputation and development of Georgian arm wrestling. Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia decided to announce the acceptance of applications for recognition in arm wrestling.

Regarding the Association of A(a) IP of Georgia’s arm wrestling, the Ministry of Sport has studied its application for recognition as prescribed by Georgian law and determined that it meets the requirements.
