Tbilisi: Georgian Minister of Education and Science Mikheil Chkhenkeli is on a working visit to the Republic of Poland, at the invitation of Polish Minister of Education and Sciences, Pshemislav Charnek.
During the visit, the Minister Mikheil Chkhenkeli held a meeting with the Rector of Warsaw University, Professor Aloiz Novak, during which the parties discussed issues of cooperation between Warsaw University and Georgian higher educational institutions and discussed ways to strengthen the Georgology program.
 The Minister sincerely thanked the Rector of Warsaw University for the implementation of this program and said that the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia supports the development of the Georgian program.
During his speech Mikheil Chkhenkel paid special attention to the importance of the existence of the Georgian journal “Pro-Georgia” at the University of Warsaw, founded by Professor David Kolbaia in 1991 and still plays an important role in promoting Georgian culture in Europe.
The minister emphasized that the magazine “Pro-Georgia” has founded the Georgianology program, which aims to study Georgian language, writing and church history at Warsaw University.
Speaking at the meeting also touched on the annual international conference dedicated to the memory of Grigol Feradze, organized by the University of Warsaw and the Center for Eastern European Studies since 2002.
 As Mikheil Chkhenkeli said, it is especially proud that this tradition continues and that such a rich history, a distinguished university, by holding an annual conference, promotes the internationalization of Georgian science.
During his visit to Warsaw University, Mikheil Chkhenkeli also met Professor David Kolbaia, Director of Caucasian Studies of the Center for Eastern European Studies at the University of Warsaw University Faculty of Orientalism, and Jan Malitsky, Director of the Center for East European Studies and discussed with them issues of development of the Georgology program.
 The Minister thanked Professor David Kolbaia for his hard work and said that it is the result of his greatest efforts that Georgian work of such scale and importance is being done at Warsaw University.
In Warsaw University scientific journal “Pro Georgia. Journal of Kartvelological Studies “Articles are printed in Polish and English. In addition, on the initiative of the International Council of Journal, in 2010 St. was established.Â
Grigol Peradze International Prize, which will be given to laureates once every two years for their contribution to the creation of the idea of humanism.
It is also noteworthy that in Warsaw University St. Grigol Peradze’s Scientific Heritage Commission is functioning, which investigates and publishes St. Grigol Peradze’s works, sermons and diaries.
Grigol Feradze – a famous Georgian theologian, historian, archimandrite, doctor of historical sciences and professor of Warsaw University – for many years gave lectures on the history of the Georgian church in leading European universities. In 1995, the Orthodox Church declared Archimandrite Grigol Feradze as a saint.
