Georgia: The Georgian Minister of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health and Social Welfare, Mikheil Sarjveladze met with the parents of the children with cystic fibrosis on March 20, 2025, Thursday.
It is noteworthy that, Cystic fibrosis is a disorder that damages your lungs, digestive tract and other organs. It’s an inherited disease caused by a defective gene that can be passed from generation to generation. Cystic fibrosis affects the cells that produce mucus, sweat and digestive juices.
He learned about the difficulties in managing illnesses in hospital settings throughout the meeting. Notably, on the same day, the Ministry of Labor, Health, Social Welfare, and Internally Displaced Persons posted snippets of the meeting on its official Facebook page.
According to the details provided by the Ministry, it should be noted that at the meeting, they discussed the necessity of taking preventive measures to avoid hospitalization. They also discussed the issues of physiotherapy, inhalation machines, medicines, and the availability of specialized medical staff for the effective management of cystic fibrosis.
They also discussed the potential of establishing a small, clinic-style facility where kids might get the medicine and procedures they need.
Notably, the Georgian health minister stated that the Ministry prioritizes safeguarding the child’s best interests, and to this end, initiatives that give patients access to first-rate healthcare will be maintained and expanded.
At the meeting, administrative issues related to the management of cystic fibrosis, the quality of medical services, and challenges in this area were discussed. The medicine to treat the disease was also discussed.
Mikheil Sarjveladze stated that safeguarding the beneficiaries’ best interests is the Ministry’s top priority and that he will base all decisions on their input. It was mentioned here that the parties will actively communicate and work together going forward.
The meeting was attended by deputies of the Minister of Health – Irakli Sasania and Tea Giorgadze, as well as other representatives of the Ministry.
