Georgia: Every year, World Health Day is celebrated on April 7, which aims to raise awareness about health. This year, the main theme of World Health Day is the health of mothers and children.
On the occasion of World Health Day, the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health and Social Welfare implements the state program of maternal and child health. The state program aims to provide medical supervision of pregnant women and newborns, effective patronage, and prevention of their health complications.
It should be noted that the program provides access to a variety of medical services and medications for pregnant and newborns.
It must be noted that protecting the health of the population and increasing access to medical services is the priority of the state. The majority of the population is financed by state programs.
It is worth noting that the Universal Health Care Program is funded by both planned and emergency medical services, family doctor and physician specialist services, chronic disease medication, surgical services, and more.
In 2021, more than 4.5 billion people, or more than half of the world’s population, lacked access to basic medical care for their physical or mental well-being, according to the WHO.
In addition to the universal health care program, the Ministry of Health implements tuberculosis control, hepatitis C, rare diseases, diabetes, and other disease treatment programs.
It should be added that since 2015 there has been an unprecedented program for C hepatitis elimination. Georgia is a model country and has become an unconditional leader in terms of C hepatitis treatment.
The Georgian Health Ministry states that to improve the quality of medical services, new conditions for surgical and resuscitation services have been implemented until the end of 2025.
