Tbilisi: The Health Minister of Georgia, Zurab Azarashvili, briefed about the new guidelines approved for outpatient facilities in order to improve the quality of medical care. As Azarashvili noted-“The aim of the changes is to ensure the safety of the patient, complete the authorization regime of hospital facilities and bring the quality of medical care in line with internationally recognized standards.”
According to Zurab Azarashvili, the improvement of medical services and services is a priority of the state. In order to achieve this goal, the Ministry of Health made a number of important reforms.
Azarashvili stated: “You can see, last year, we actively started to hold various events in order to improve the quality of clinics’ services. One of the most important things is, in different directions, we have set standards. Last time – for CPR service providers; today – for surgery. We follow all directions and will have our own standards in terms of room staging, equipment and various components.Â
In addition, from 2025, accreditation of international standards will become mandatory for medical institutions included in the universal health care program. “We are following the plan in this direction, and I think very soon we will have significantly improved services in clinics,” said Zurab Azarashvili.
In addition to this, the Georgian Health Minister talked about the importance of opening a laboratory and noted that in the facility, using high-tech equipment, the quality of medicines will be studied and controlled, which, by his own definition, will significantly improve the quality of drugs and pharmaceutical products.
“The drug quality control laboratory is ready. At this stage, we agree on technical and organizational issues as to when the facility will open. Today we can already say that the country has a drug laboratory, where medicines will be tested, and samples of medicines will not be needed to be sent abroad to determine their quality,” Zurab Azarashvili said.
