Georgian Minister hosts meeting with People’s Republic of China

Georgia: Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Alexander Tsuladze held a regular working meeting with Zhou Xian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Georgia. The Ministry also shared glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook account on 22 March, 2025.

The delegates discussed various strategic ways for future collaborations such as joint educational projects and future plans between the two countries in the education and science sector. 

During the meeting, Minister Alexander Tsuladze thanked the Chinese side for inviting him to the educational and scientific conferences planned in China. He further said that their active involvement in such events will promote the process of bringing the two countries closer.

In addition, the participants of the meeting also discussed the draft agreement between Chinese language teaching. There will be development of new exchange programs for students as well.

The draft agreement includes bilateral recognition of higher education degrees and certificates between the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia.

In response, the Chinese Ambassador thanked Minister Aleksandre Tsuladze for his continuous cooperation and positively assessed the ongoing projects in the Georgian education system.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Baia Kvitsiani.

Georgia and People’s Republic of China 

Bilateral ties between the two nations were first established in June 1992 and since then, their diplomatic relations have advanced gradually and focused mainly on economic cooperation. China has an embassy in Tbilisi while Georgia has their embassy in Beijing.

In 2017, China became the fourth largest trading partner of Georgia and the second largest exporting market for Georgian wine. Georgia and the People’s Republic of China formed a strategic partnership in 2023 to further strengthen their ties.
