Georgian Minister Irakli Nadareishvili addresses Web Summit in Lisbon

Irakli Nadareishvili, Georgia’s deputy minister of economy and sustainable development addressed the attendees at Web Summit in Lisbon, Portugal. The annual summit began on November 11 and ended on November 14, 2024.

During his speech, the Minister underlined the need for a knowledge-based economy. According to him collective efforts are needed to boost the startup culture which will lead to the overall development of any country.

His address mentions that “The development of the knowledge-based economy is one of the priorities of our government’s economic policy. Therefore, we support the development of the innovative startup ecosystem as much as possible. Part of this policy is the global positioning of the attractiveness and competitiveness of the Georgian startup ecosystem.

He also stated that “Our government is committed to Georgia’s overall development  and this is the main reason why for the second time Georgia is participating in the world’s largest technology summit in Lisbon, where we will present the opportunities and advantages that Georgia offers to innovative startups.

It is worth noting that the Republic of Georgia is represented at Web Summit 2024 one of the most important technological events in the world, within the framework of cooperation between the Innovation and Technology Agency and “Produce Georgia” on a large scale and with the “StartUP in Georgia” initiative.

According to the information the deputy minister shared on different social media handles, the Georgian pavilion is very popular. Visitors can learn about the initiatives implemented and planned by the government in recent years to develop the innovative startup ecosystem.

At the same time the Government has also shown great interest in the regional technological hub project in Kutaisi, which will become one of the region’s significant attraction centers.

According to him participation in the web summit gives Georgian startups an opportunity to introduce their innovative products to interested visitors and attract international investments and partners.

This year “Web Summit 2024” will host more than 70,000 participants from 160 countries, including hundreds of startups, technology companies and government organizations from around the world.
