Tbilisi, Georgia: At the National University of Georgia, an event dedicated to cooperation with SEU Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was held on November 12, 2024.
The event participants discussed prospects and future plans for the partnership between SEU and MIT, which aims to develop the education and startup ecosystem sectors.
The Georgian Minister of Education, Science, and Youth, Alexander Tsuladze, participated in the event. He addressed the audience and discussed the importance of cooperation between SEU and MIT to develop the startup ecosystem in the region.
As the minister noted, cooperation with the Institute, which is in the vanguard of changes in the competitive environment on the global stage, and its entry into the Georgian university space will be an important step towards improving the startup ecosystem in Georgia. He said that through the collaboration, SEU will provide young startups with a unique opportunity to harness new ideas in the fields of innovation and technology.
Gia Kavtelishvili, Rector of the National University of Georgia; Bill Olet, Managing Director of the Entrepreneurial Center of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and Levan Darsalia, Deputy Chairman of the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA), also addressed the guests.
The event was attended by rectors of Georgian universities, representatives of the public and private sectors, and other invited guests.
It is to be noted that National University of Georgia signed a contract with one of the world’s highest ranked universities – Massachusetts Institute of Technology in September this year.
The document mentioned considers strengthening the partnership for the development of the Georgian education system and Startup ecosystem and taking important steps in this direction.
In addition, SEU, along with four other universities worldwide, is a co-founder of the Raise the Bar Entrepreneurship Educators Network, an initiative of the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship. This network is dedicated to elevating entrepreneurship education on a global scale. Its primary goal is to train highly skilled entrepreneurs and give them the skills required to tackle their most critical challenges.
Joining the Entrepreneurial Education Distribution Network provides SEU with a unique opportunity to strengthen partnerships with world-leading universities and share their experiences in entrepreneurship, innovation, and technological development.
As part of the partnership, the Georgian National University has already announced an open call for a fully funded entrepreneurial education training program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The contest is open to SEU academics majoring in Business and Technology or any representative in the field who will become an SEU-affiliated academic staff member.
Selected candidates will undergo in-depth training on MIT’s “Guided Entrepreneurship Framework” and the “24 Steps and 15 Startup Tactics Methodology of Guided Entrepreneurship.” They will also get acquainted with startup accelerators and programs of the MIT Entrepreneurship Center. The training will be held from January 13 to January 17, 2025.
