Georgia: Shalva Papuashvili, a Georgian member of parliament, made a significant declaration of Georgia’s independence. In his most recent Facebook post, he also expressed his opinions. He also shared the glimpses of his speech in the Parliament.
“Today is a historic day,” he wrote. We are hosting the inauguration ceremony for the sixth President of Georgia in the Palace of the Parliament of Georgia, within the walls of this historic hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed and Georgia gained its independence 33 years ago while the first President of Georgia took the oath.
He said, ” With today’s ceremony, the new amendment of the Constitution of Georgia enters into force and establishes a parliamentary republic, which shall further establish the principle of government divisions and strengthen the democratic foundations of our country.”
Shalva Papuashvili also mentioned that two weeks ago, On December 14, 2024, the Georgian Presidential elections were held according to the new constitutional rule. The Electoral College consisting of 300 members elected Mikheil Kavelashvili as the President of Georgia with 224 votes. According to Papuashvili, the experience of Georgian politics shows that the status of the president, along with great honor, is also a great responsibility. Being president means being a president.
During his speech in the Parliament, the minister Papauashvili said, “This is the clear border, which some people have difficulty seeing and easily crossed. Among them, the answer to this was on October 26, 1 120 000 of our compatriots firmly and loudly stating their unshakable will, which will support the sixth president of Georgia from today.” “It is based on this high confidence that the new president of Georgia will be important in achieving national consensus, establishing constitutional order in the country and representing Georgia properly in front of the world.”
He also expressed his special gratitude to the Catholic Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia, who gave the Georgian Parliament a Bible specially woven for this ceremony as a gift. Just like the Inaugural Constitution, this Bible will be protected in the Parliament of Georgia, as the Inaugural Bible of future presidents.
“As of right now, Georgia will have a president who will uphold the Constitution and the genuine will of the people. From today, Georgia will have a president who will be at the rank of national values and interests, he counted.
“I would like to wish Mikheil Kavelashvili every success in fulfilling his honorary mission. May God be the protector of him and our country,” by saying this he concluded his speech.
