Tbilisi: Shalva Papuashvili, the speaker of Georgia’s Parliament once again reiterated his country’s support for Ukraine in its fight against Georgia. He said we will always remain on Ukraine’s side against Russia’s barbaric attack.
While sharing his views on social media handls, the Speaker of Parliament shared his sympathy with the people of Ukraine. As per the post shared on the official Facebook page he added, “For more than 2 and a half years, we have been witnessing a devastating war, a war that no one thought would ever be repeated in Europe. Russia’s large-scale war against Ukraine shocked many.”
He further stated, ‘We Georgians have stood by our Ukrainian friends since the first day of the war and will continue to do so. We share a deep understanding of the pain of war and the value of peace. The conflict in Ukraine serves as a stark reminder that peace is a precious and fragile commodity.”
He also stated, We are in an arc of fire, instability, and conflict. Europe which has been a haven of peace and stability for decades, is now a hotbed of large-scale armed conflict.
We warned our partners that the international system, which failed to prevent war in Georgia and now in Ukraine, failed to ensure a just and sustainable peace.
The awakening that followed the war prompted many of our partners to look at ways to prevent such great tragedies in the future, added the speaker of Parliament.
According to him, ‘We were the first to realize that a temporary truce does not guarantee lasting peace. Freezing the conflict for short time is not a reliable solution. We must focus on long-term, just, and sustainable peace.”
At the end of his message the speaker underlined that an appropriate international system must also support measures for peace to make such peace possible and lasting. We based on our size and capacity must take our share of responsibility and work for a better peace.
