Georgia: Georgia is participating for the first time in the ongoing “Revelations China,” which was inaugurated on September 19 in the People’s Republic of China.
At the exhibition “Revelations China” (“Revelations China”), according to the general concept, the Georgian pavilion, prepared by Georgian craftsmen, presents applied art traditions, technologies, and modern approaches.
The event was attended by the Ambassador of Georgia to the People’s Republic of China, Paata Kalandadze, the Chancellor of Tbilisi State Art Academy named after Apollo Kutateladze Lali Tarimanishvili, and representatives of the Embassy of Georgia.
“Revelations China” is held in the People’s Republic of China. Its concept deals with the traditions, technologies, and challenges of applied art, and in its context, it is a model for the French Biennale, organized by the French company “Ateliers d’Art de France.” This year, the exhibition is taking place in China, and its concept is curated by Roman Julia.
The Georgian exhibition space (“The Banquet”) is an important part of the exhibition, where Georgia is represented along with 10 other countries, including China, Spain, and Ecuador.
“Discovery of China” is very large-scale, attended by more than 100 countries and more than 1000 artists, and has more than 100 planned events.
In accordance with the exhibition’s specifics, the artists of the Academy of Art and Ethnographic Museum prepared an exhibition of Georgian traditions and technologies.
The exhibition aims to showcase applied arts’ unique traditions and technologies and how they are evolving today. Considering the priorities of the exhibition concept, three areas were chosen: woodworking, ceramics, and textiles.
It is noteworthy that Georgia is participating in this exhibition for the first time, and interest in the Georgian pavilion is very high.
